The Liquid Trade Waste Policy

Macleay Water has developed a Liquid Trade Waste Policy.
(Note: Scroll through blank pages on Liquid Trade Waste Policy-these are for printing purposes only)

The intention is to provide a basis for compliance with the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability's new concurrence guidelines for Liquid Trade Waste discharges to sewerage systems.

Initially Macleay Water proposes to work within the guidelines of the Liquid Trade Waste Policy to inform and educate Councils commercial customers. Macleay Waters' Liquid Trade Waste officer will explain each customer's individual responsibilities to comply and the reasons why Liquid Trade Waste needs to be considered separately from domestic sewerage charges.

To Comply with the Liquid Trade Waste Policy means that as the Sewerage and Liquid Trade Waste charging structure is phased in, penalty charges will not apply.

The time frame for the phase in of Liquid Trade Waste charges is now available and submissions are being received on both the Policy and the proposed pricing.

Some existing Liquid Trade Waste customers with older pre-treatment systems (grease trap, corrugated plate interceptor) may not comply with the new State Government guidelines and will need to upgrade or fine tune their servicing regimes to increase the efficiency of their pre-treatment systems.

Macleay Water will undertake an inspection and education program to inform and advise Liquid Trade Waste dischargers of their responsibilities in maintaining their pre-treatment systems and how they may also employ better house-keeping methods to increase the efficiency of their existing systems which can reduce the frequency of the need to pump out their grease trap and the financial burden associated with it.
